Personalization Is More Than Adding a First Name
Write concise prospecting messages with a real business reason, a specific benefit and a low-pressure next step. Avoid fake familiarity and mass pitching.

A message can include someone's name and still feel completely generic. Useful personalization explains why you are contacting this particular person about this particular problem.
Start with verified professional context: the recipient's role, a company update or a public post you actually read. Do not imply a relationship you do not have, invent praise or make assumptions about private challenges.
Connect context to a relevant offer
Sales Navigator can help you research prospective buyers. Its search filters include professional attributes, while LinkedIn describes additional context such as job changes and mutual connections. These are research clues, not proof of interest.
Choose one observation and connect it to one clear benefit. For example, a consultant could write: “Your company page mentions a new customer onboarding service. I help small teams document handoffs between sales and delivery. Would a short checklist be useful?”
That example works only when the observation and service description are true. Replace them with your own verified context rather than copying the wording indiscriminately.
Keep the next step small
A first message does not need a full sales presentation. Explain who you are, why the conversation may be relevant and what you are offering. Ask a simple question that is easy to decline.
Avoid exaggerated results, false urgency and repeated unsolicited follow-ups. If someone says no or asks you to stop, respect that. An unanswered message is not permission to continue indefinitely.
Review your approach by the quality of conversations, not just the number of messages sent. No template or subscription can guarantee replies, meetings or revenue.
